Here's exactly what happens
10 minutes, door to door. No mystery.
- 1Minutes 1–2The quick chat
We check what you have used on the area lately, retinoids especially, and whether you have waxed before.
- 2Minutes 2–3Prep
The area is cleansed and prepped. Your esthetician maps the growth, which under the arm runs in several directions at once.
- 3Minutes 3–7The wax
Hard wax goes on warm and sets for a few seconds, then lifts in one motion. Worked in sections so nothing is missed.
- 4Minutes 7–9The detail
Strays are tweezed. This is the difference between mostly smooth and actually smooth.
- 5Minutes 9–10Done
A calming post-wax treatment goes on. Some pinkness is normal and settles within the hour.
Does it hurt?
A bit, mostly the first time. It is a small area and it is over in seconds. It gets easier every visit, because regular waxing thins the hair and leaves less to remove.

Shorter than a quarter inch and the wax has nothing to grip. Not sure? Come in and we will take a look rather than turn you away.
Skip for 24 hours after
Deodorant is the one people forget. Freshly waxed skin has open follicles, and most antiperspirants carry alcohol and fragrance. Resume gentle exfoliation after 48 hours.

- Have had a chemical peel or laser treatment on the area recently

Questions
How long does an underarm wax last?
Three to four weeks for most people. Because waxing removes hair at the root rather than cutting it at the surface, there is no stubble phase. You go from smooth to a little regrowth, not from smooth to sandpaper overnight.
How long does my hair need to be?
About a quarter of an inch, roughly two weeks of growth since your last shave. Shorter than that and the wax has nothing to grip.
Can I wear deodorant afterwards?
Give it 24 hours. Freshly waxed skin has open follicles, and most deodorants and antiperspirants contain alcohol and fragrance that can irritate them.
Will waxing help with dark underarms?
Often, yes. A lot of what reads as darkness is shadow from hair sitting below the surface, plus pigmentation from years of razor irritation. Waxing removes the hair entirely and stops the daily friction, so many clients notice their underarms look brighter and more even after a few consistent appointments.
How do I stop ingrown hairs?
Exfoliate gently two to three times a week starting 48 hours after your wax, keep the area moisturised, and stay on a regular four week schedule.
Is it safe if I am pregnant?
Yes. Skin can be more sensitive during pregnancy, so let your esthetician know when you arrive and we will adjust.
Can I get waxed if I am on Accutane?
No. We cannot wax anyone who has taken Accutane in the last 12 months, because the skin lifts with the wax. Call us on (202) 552-1650 if you are unsure about a medication.

Can I add it to another service?
Most people do. We run the pairing as a single 40 minute appointment: the Brazilian and Underarm Combo at $85, which is $5 less than booking them separately. Our 5 and 10 packs include the underarm wax free.
How often should I come back?
Every four weeks keeps you on a single growth cycle, which is what makes each visit faster and more comfortable than the last.
